Metalock Brasil responded to a repair request from a power generation plant, that uses state-of-the-art technology combustion engines.
Inspection by Metalock Brasil’s specialist technicians revealed damage at the cylinder liner lower landing face of the engine block. There was no damage to the upper landing face of the B-side.
Special portable boring equipment was fitted, aligned, secured and the damaged liner landing face was machined until the imperfections were removed. To compensate the removed material a new bush was fabricated at Metalock Brasil’s workshop, according to the manufacturer’s original diameter, surface finish and tolerances. It was then freeze fitted, using liquid nitrogen and the final bushing completed.
After alignment tests, the equipment was ready to be safely used.
